Session Description: Workplace violence is increasing across the nation, from a disgruntled co-worker to a disgruntled customer, workplace violence exists, and healthcare organizations are not immune to its effect. We will review key terminology as related to workplace violence, key regulations, and requirements for protecting healthcare personnel from workplace violence, the types, and risks of healthcare workplace violence, techniques to de-escalate a potential workplace violence incident, personal safety, and situational awareness, predicting factors of aggression and violence and the importance of stress management and recovery from the potential impact from a workplace violence incident.
